Secret Neighbor review
Secret Neighbor is an online game developed by Hologryph. It is a sequel to the popular Hello Neighbor game and is available on Xbox One and PC.
Gameplay: You Are Not Alone
The Hello Neighbor game was a single-player stealth horror, while the Secret Neighbor is an online game. It puts less focus on the horror elements and brings communication to the game. Just as in the original game, you have to explore the Neighbor's house by solving puzzles and unlocking new rooms, but now you are not the only kid. In each session, a group of people teams up against the Neighbor to solve the puzzles together. However, one of the kids is the Secret Neighbor, the undercover enemy. His aim is not to let the children solve the puzzles, while they have to guess who is the betrayer in their team.
Graphics: A Bit Better
The visual style of the Secret Neighbor is the same as in the original Hello Neighbor. However, this game looks much better than the original: the lights have been improved, the interiors are now more densely filled with objects, and the graphics, in general, are more detailed. The soundtracks and sound effects have also got better, and the game does not feel like a small indie project. Some weather effects have also been added: for example, the thunder is often raging outside the house. However, the game became less scary, and suspense due to the communication elements added.
Controls: Try The Neighbor
The controls in Secret Neighbor are almost the same as in Hello Neighbor as the core mechanics are the same. Still, the game has something new to offer: each kid has his class and a special ability. This enhances the gameplay a bit but does not complicate the controls too much. The Neighbor's role is given randomly in each session and adds more control opportunities, requiring some more learning from the player.
