RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 review
Red Dead Redemption 2 is an action-adventure game developed by Rockstar. It was initially released in 2018 and is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and Windows.
Gameplay: Wild West Auto
The game is often compared to another series of Rockstar, the famous Grand Theft Auto. And in some way, Red Dead Redemption 2 is very close to being a Wild West GTA. It also has a vast open-world with many additional activities and an extended story mode with dozens of interesting characters. However, in the GTA series, the developers focused on chaos, while in RDR2, more emphasis is placed on realism. This concerns almost every aspect of the game: the shooting mechanics are far more realistic, the transport behaves more naturally, and the visual effects complement the realistic experience.
Graphics: The Magic Is in the Details
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the latest game released by Rockstar Games. As we have mentioned, the developers focus on realism, and the graphics correspond to the standards they have set. Not only the image looks great with the implementation of the most modern graphics of 2018, but there are so many realistic details that the full immersion is inevitable. The snow slowly covers the character's tracks. The character is losing or gaining weight, depending on the amounts of food he eats, the weapons can get wet or dirty, which requires them to be fixed and many more.
Controls: A Bit Harder
The controls, in general, are a bit harder than in GTA. However, the mentioned realism makes it even harder to play the game. The player is now required to perform gun management, treat his horse, maintain his hair and clothes, and do many other little things. The core mechanics are also not that easy: the game is far from being an arcade the GTA is.
Great
RDR 2 is a great game we would definitely like to recommend to you. However, it is important to manage the expectations: many players were disappointed by the game as they expected a literal "GTA in the Wild West". Despite having the same logo on the loading screen, Red Dead Redemption 2 is very far from Grand Theft Auto: its core mechanics and the general focus are not put on action and chaos in RDR 2.
